Born as a babe in the manger,
Into this world You came.
Your mother, a precious virgin,
Joseph obediently gave you his name.
You grew in love and holiness,
Facing daily, worldly tasks.
Until, as a young man, the time came
To do as Your Heavenly Father asked.
You walked down the road of rejection,
Teaching mankind to follow You.
Many heard the words that You spoke,
They would betray You...You knew.
You continued to journey on,
Doing Your Father's will.
Temptations were put in Your path,
You told the evil one, "Be still!"
After years of preparation,
Came the time to fulfil God's prophesy,
Sin and suffering were placed before You,
The cross and death You had to see.
Your earthly body was laid in the tomb,
Three days in death You spent.
A glorious resurrection broke the gloom,
As all mankind from sin can repent.
The Easter story may now be told...
By Your grace our sins You forgive,
And everlasting life is Your gift to us,
Just because You LIVE.
