February 2006...Our Calling

 

Dear Lord,

As we follow Your leading
We must preach Your Message:
 

‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’

Freely we have received from You Lord,

freely we must give.

We must greet others with love

and wish them well.

If they are deserving,

Your peace will come upon them.

They will be freed from

the distresses of sin.

If they are not deserving,

God’s peace will not rest on them.

You Lord, send us out

like sheep amongst wolves;

We must be as wise as serpents,

and as innocent as doves.

We must take our stand

against those who oppose God,

As the Spirit of the Father

speaks through us.

The Lord knows that we will be hated

for His name’s sake;

But if we persevere and endure to the end,

we will be saved.

We have no fear of concealed evil,

for it will be revealed to us.

All secrets will become known

and all whispers proclaimed aloud.

We must acknowledge and confess

the Lord before men,

Then He will acknowledge and confess

us before the Father.

But if we deny and disown the Lord

before men,

Then He will deny and disown us

before the Father.

We must take up our cross and follow Him…

I am instructed to take up the cross daily and follow Him.
When I think about all that Jesus went through on my behalf,
I am empowered to be more faithful on my own journey of life.
I can accept the injustices that I experience
because He accepted unjust condemnation.
I can pick up my cross and carry on
despite my many falls on the way.
The perseverance of Jesus, on His journey to Calvary,
gives me the strength to keep going.
He has given me people along the way to help me…
who lift me up in prayer, support me in times of difficulty,
and share in the blessings God has given me.
